Solar Anniversary

Hello everybody! I’m proud to announce that this month marks the first anniversary of the installation of our Blue Ridge Graphic’s solar panels! Happy Birthday Solar Panels! We are so proud of all 64 little solar buddies.

As the pictures show, they all look great and we have been thrilled with all 11,000 kilowatts of power they produce. A big shout out to Entero Energy for doing a great job!

Stayed tuned for our series of articles under the title, “What is Screen Printing?” This series will detail the life of a custom t-shirt order in our green screen printing shop and, well… help answer the question “What is screen printing?” Also, I’m planning on updating our Plastisol inks vs. Water base inks article which is very exciting.

Until Next Time!

The Return of Josh!

BRG is excited to announce (drum-roll please) The Return of Josh! That’s right ladies and gentlemen, Josh Rosenblatt is back to work at Blue Ridge Graphics, and boy are we glad to have him! For those of you who don’t know, Josh previously worked at BRG deftly managing many of our top music industry and national clients.

Having picked up where he left off, Josh is back to working with both large and small-scale clients alike. Whether you are in the market for a few dozen softball jerseys, or a large scale recurring event, Josh’s personability and custom t-shirt printing knowledge will make it both easy and enjoyable to print your shirts with us.

Josh also uses his love of music to stay current on the local, regional, and national music scenes, and he constantly uses this knowledge to school us in all the new acts coming through Charlottesville. Couple his music industry knowledge with his knowledge of screen printing and fashion t-shirts, and he’s able to find the right shirt and right price for any custom t-shirt budget and marketing plan.

Now that he’s back, Josh is again working in our sales department and keeps track of all online t-shirt quotes. This means, that if you send in a quote from our website, you have a great chance of getting a response from the man himself. Or, if you want to just drop a line you can email him directly at josh@brgtshirts.com

Josh is both a personal friend and a great co-worker who really knows his stuff when it comes to custom t-shirts and screen-printing. Needless to say, The Return of Josh is really a 4-star event.

Philadelphia Flower Show Trip

Continuing my east coast tour of important screen printing and custom t-shirt places (see last article on the Atlantic City ISS screen printing trade show,) I traveled to the lovely city of Philadelphia earlier this month for the Philadelphia Flower Show. Now why would a flower show be such an important place for a screen printing shop?  Well because Blue Ridge Graphics is fortunate to be able to print all the custom designed t-shirts for the show!

The Philadelphia Flower Show, which is put on by the lovely people at the Philadelphia Horticulture Society, is one of the most prestigious flower shows in the entire world, and (not surprisingly) one of our favorite clients. This year’s theme was Hawaii, and let me tell you, PHS did an amazing job with all the Hawaiian plants, flowers, and exhibits. (The custom t-shirts were especially nice if I do say so myself.)

The orchid section was particularly magnificent and as always I found the bonsai to be fascinating. I would show you all my pictures, but they certainly can’t capture the beauty of this incredible event. As I’m sure you will notice, there is a picture of an incredible pressed flower design of which the artist wisely choose the custom t-shirt as their subject. Genius!

I absolutely had a blast attending the show and everyone in the BRG family loves working with PHS. Congratulations to the Philadelphia Horticulture Society for another terrific job and I can’t wait until next year’s Philadelphia Flower Show. Oh and yes, I did complete my trip with a rather large Cheese Steak wit’ wiz…magnificent!

Next article will be a showcase of the hottest spring styles for 2012 so stay tuned!

The Atlantic City Trade Show

I traveled to the great city of Atlantic City this past weekend for the ISS screen printing and custom t-shirts trade show, and boy was it wild! I mean I didn’t gamble, drink, or party a ton, but I did get locked in a Whole Foods before it opened AND find some pretty great maternity blanks!

I don’t have pictures of the Whole Food experience because my camera was confiscated immediately (obviously), but the maternity blanks are pictured below and you won’t be disappointed!

But let’s get back to the show. Overall it was a pretty great showing (see what I did there). There were lots of vendors representing companies like Bella + Canvas, Next Level, Alternative Apparel, American Apparel, Anvil, Gildan and many more. Definitely saw a few new faces with some cool V-Necks, Scoop Necks, and my personal favorite the Moroccan V (soon to be worn by Brad Pitt…and yours truly).

Probably the most memorable new style I saw was the burnout full-zip hoodie manufactured by Alternative Apparel. They have some really great colors to choose from and some very nice detail work. They make it in a Uni-sex version and a Ladies version, and both will look incredible with some BRG custom screen printing. Hopefully we’ll see a bunch of these this spring.

Another company that really made an impression was Bella + Canvas. Not only did they have practically their whole line of Bella Ladies and Canvas Men’s fashion t-shirts and garments available to view, but they created a fashion temple in which to view it. This temple of comfortable clothing was complete with a red velvet gate (obviously they’ve had some pretty serious issues with crowd control), and big screen TV’s with models dancing much better than I can.

At the end of the day I had a lot of fun, not only because I’m in the custom t-shirts and screen printing business, but also because the city, the vendors, and other screen printers tend to be pretty enjoyable
